The 2018-2019 school year marks my fourteenth year of teaching in PCBOE and my second at PCES! Go Hawks! I have been a classroom teacher for 35 years. I bring to the classroom a love of learning. I believe all students can learn if taught, and high expectations are essential for success. I strive for all my students to leave my classroom understanding the subject matter and prepared for the next grade. I believe in structure, organization, and a personal responsibility. I also know that to achieve success, it takes the student, parent/guardian, and teacher to work as a team.
I was born in Chicago, Illinois, moved to Los Angeles, CA at the age of 14, received a Bachelor of Arts degree at Cal Poly, Pomona, and taught three years in the Baldwin Park School District before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado. I taught eighteen years at Stratmoor Hills Elementary School. I received my Masters in Elementary School Counseling at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. During my time at Stratmoor Hills, I taught kindergarten, fourth, fifth grades and was the school counselor for six years. I have taught third, fourth, and fifth grades at Meadowlane. I was named Classroom Teacher of the Year at the Heart of the Community Awards in 2007 and received a Golden Bell in 2010. My experiences have taught me that no matter what grade or what state, teaching is fun, exhausting, challenging, and a profession I'm proud to be a part. Children are our future. With love and guidance, they can achieve anything!
Personal interests include reading, going to the beach, kayaking, hiking, playing games on the computer, spending time with friends, singing in my church choir, and being a mom to a twenty-two year old. I was able to cross going on a hot air balloon ride off my bucket, too. My son is a graduate from Central High School and is working as a chef at River and Rail in uptown Columbus. I have two beautiful fur babies, Chloe and Bailey.
