Happy New Year!! It is hard to believe this year is halfway over. Students are learning about goal setting this month and will be writing goals to improve their academics and behavior. Ask them about their goals and encourage them to strive to reach them. Also, please remember to have your children read at least 20 minutes each night, so they can reach their AR goal. The more they read, the more they succeed!!

Class Rules and ConsequencesClassroom Rules
1. I can and I will be prompt. (Be on time for class every day.) 2. I can and I will be prepared. (Have all materials including homework needed for each day.) 3. I can and I will be productive. (Use time wisely, stay on task, follow directions) 4. I can and I will be patient (Wait your turn, raise your hand.) 5. I can and I will be polite. (Respect EVERYONE.) 6. I can and I will be the BEST student at all times. Consequences 1. Name – Students get one warning for incorrect behavior. 2. Name and 1 check - Student loses one conduct point 3. Name and 2 or 3 checks - Students will have time out to reflect, silent lunch, or loss of privilege. 4. Name and 4 checks - Parent contact and possible conference 45, Severe Infractions such as fighting – principal, ten demerits All students are responsible for being prepared each school day. Please leave any technology and grooming items at home. If your child MUST bring their phone, then they are required to turn it off and leave it in their backpacks during the school day. Girls may bring a purse if necessary. Students should have the following items at home for homework completion: paper, pencils, pencil sharpener, crayons NOTE: Please make sure I have a contact number to reach you if there is an emergency or any problems concerning behavior. ExpectationsIn the Classroom: Students are expected to come to school well-rested and prepared for the school day. Students must have homework completed, planners signed by parents/guardians, and necessary supplies. Anything that is not school related should NOT be brought to school (no cell phones, ipods, mp3 players, toys,
etc.) All grooming supplies must be left in book bags or purses and may be used during restroom breaks. If your child must bring their cell phone, please remind them that it is to be turned off and kept in their backpacks during the day. In the lunchroom: Students are to get their lunch trays and milk quietly and sit in groups of four at the lunch tables. Socializing is allowed but must be kept within the group of four. The office is close to the lunch room, and we must be respectful of that. Students are to keep their eating area clean and can be sent out for throwing food, playing, or not following lunchroom procedures properly. Homework should include studying spelling, math facts, and reading for AR tests nightly. Thank you.
